Commissioning an artwork is not as expensive as you may think, only £158 for A4 (approx) portrait which when framed creates a painting of approximately 16×12 inches.
I love working on commissions because I get to work with people creating something special that will capture a moment or memory forever. The look on people’s faces when I show them the finished commission is just an amazing buzz and worth all the extra energy they take to complete.
People only want a commission as a unique gift to loved ones or for the special events and animals in their lives… either way I feel privileged if I’m asked to do one.
I specialise in pet and wildlife portraits because I’m passionate about them, have always found it easy to connect with them and have always had an animal around the house: for company, fun and affection.
That said, I also love a challenge and the canal barge commission was just that.
It was my first attempt at an inanimate object and at water but the finished portrait captured the barge on the mooring, at that moment, forever and Judy and Bill love it so much they constantly grab people to show it off!
I’ve been told a few times that you can tell I love animals in my artwork, “the passion shines through” although in common with many artists, I don’t think too much about the ‘how’ since I don’t want anything to get in the way of the ‘flow’. I just start with eyes when painting an animal, the painting comes to life and then I’m off….
Whether you decide to choose me for your commission or prefer another artist’s style, remember to take photos NOW. Take them frequently whenever you see something you love. The more information and great photos you can give your artist the better your portrait will be.
I offer two kinds of commission, one that allows me to produce 25 prints from the completed piece and sell art cards. This allows me to significantly reduce the fees for you. Exclusive commissions are just that, the only images that are reproduced are for marketing purposes (leaflets/website).
You can find out more about the choices and the costs involved by clicking on any of the links on this page (they will all take you to the same place with all the info you need).
I hope you choose me as your commission artist and if you want to know more please ring or email me… in the meantime keep taking photos since clear, sharply focused photos showing all the details are key to the best portraits.
